Question of the day: Is it possible to save .pdf files onto the ipad in the ibooks app?
So I am planning on buying an ipad, and I have a few ebooks on my computer that are in .pdf format that I would like to put on it in the ibooks app. Do I have to buy books directly from apple to be able to read them using the ibooks app?

You cannot open PDF with iBook app, you need some other app that can read PDF file. Or you can also can send the PDF to the iPad through email. Check and open the email on iPad, and it can read and open the PDF files in email attachment.

And depending on how you want to use the device for. For reading purpose, you should definitely choose ebook reader like the Kindle instead of iPad. I’ve given a detailed comparison between the iPad and the Kindle, in a previous answer here. Guess you’ll be interested:
